Jesus, You Said…

Jesus you said,

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

And so…

I lift up my eyes to the mountains – where does my help come from?  My help comes from You, God – the maker of heaven and earth.

You will not let my foot slip.

You will not slumber or sleep as You watch over my comings and my goings.

When the path that You have set before me seems hard…when the burden doesn’t seem to be so light…You remind me of Your promises, and You tell me…

“Do not fear for I am with you; do not be dismayed for I am Your God.  I will strengthen you.  I will help you.  I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

When I am tired, You remind me that as I wait on You, You are the One renews my strength so that when I need to soar, I will do so with eagle’s wings.  When I need to run, I will be able to run and not grow weary.  When I need to walk, I will be able to walk and not faint.

Indeed, it is because of You that I can have hope for it is by Your great love for me that I am not consumed.  Your compassions never fail.

In fact…

They are new every morning!  Great is Your faithfulness!

Therefore, I will say to myself, “You, Lord, are my portion; therefore I will wait for You.”

Though the fig tree does not bud, and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails, and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, Yet I will rejoice in You, Lord!  I will be joyful in You, God, my Savior.

You, Sovereign Lord, are my strength.  You make my feet like the feet of the deer.  You enable me to tread on the heights.

You are my Good Shepherd.  In You and through You, I lack nothing.  You make me lie down in green pastures.  You lead me beside quiet waters.  Your refresh my soul.  You guide me along the right paths for the sake of Your name.

When You lead me through dark valleys, You are there with Your rod and staff to comfort me.

When enemies to surround me, there You prepare a table before me…in their very presence.

When I face pestilence, You anoint and soothe my head with oil.

In You, my cup overflows, for you are my portion forever!

Surely Your goodness and Your compassionate love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in Your house forever!

Thank you for the sure and living hope that I have in You!  That one day with a loud command…with the voice of the archangel…with the trumpet call of God…

The dead in Christ will rise first…

And then…

We who are alive and remain with be caught up in the air with them and so we will be with You…

For all eternity…

Forever and ever!

Lord God, until this path before me leads me home to You, help me to live a life worthy of the calling that I have received.

Father, I ask that out of Your glorious riches that you would strengthen each of us who are called by Your name.  Strengthen us with Your power through Your Spirit in our inner being so that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith.

I ask Father, that we being rooted and established in love – what a glorious truth! – would have power together with all Your holy people, to grasp how wide…how deep…how long…how high is the love of Christ…

And to know this love which surpasses understanding – that we may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of Yourself.

Lord, fill us with the knowledge of Your will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that we can live a life worth of You and please You in every way –

Bearing the fruit in every good work…

Growing in the knowledge of You…

Being strengthened with all power according to Your glorious might so that we will have great endurance and patience…

Giving joyful thanks to You who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of Your holy people in the Kingdom of Light.

For You have rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the Kingdom of Your beloved Son – the Lord Jesus Christ – through whom have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.  And through whom we can come boldly to Your throne of grace and find mercy and help in our times of need.  Thank-you that You, the God of all grace, who called us to Your eternal glory in Christ, after we have suffered a little while…

You Yourself will restore us and make us strong, firm, and steadfast.

Lord, this day, I cast my burdens on You, for according to Your promise, You will sustain me.  You will provide for every need.  Indeed, with You beside me, Your yoke is easy and Your burden is light.  I can do all things that You give me to do.  Please grant me Your divine wisdom to discern Your will and Your direction for me, so that I can – wisely and not foolishly – make the most of the opportunities that You have given me.  Please grant me courage to walk with confidence and boldness on the steps that You have placed before me to take.

As I follow you, help me to remember that You are with me…

Wherever I go.

Now to You who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to Your power that is at work within us, to You be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever!

Amen!
