It’s True! He Hears, Answers & Saves!

“I sought the Lord and He answered me;

He delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4

This morning I decided to wind up my walk by going through the pasture in which our mares and their babies are living.  There are a few still left to foal, so I wanted to have a look and make sure that everyone was doing ok:D

I scanned the field.  Some mares and foals were up grazing, while others were resting, taking full advantage of the sunshine!

As I journeyed closer, my focus zeroed in on a mare that was still a good distance from me.  She was laying down in the grass, but something just looked odd.  At first she was too far away for me to be able to determine what seemed strange, but as I drew closer it wasn’t hard to see.

She was laying on her side, flat out…

And one leg was in the air.

Thinking she might be foaling, I watched her side for any sign of contractions…

There was none.

I was still a ways away, but I watched to see if I saw any evidence of her breathing…

And I couldn’t see any.

About this time my dogs decided to go and play tag with a few cows that were on the other side of the fence.  Usually I get after them for this, but this time I didn’t, for I thought that surely their frantic barks would awaken her if she was in a deep sleep…

She just kept on laying there…leg sticking out at an odd angle…no evidence of breathing…

No movement that I could see even though by this time I was getting closer….

At that moment I prayed and asked God to put air into that mare’s lungs.

Now I was within 30 feet of this horse and I yelled out while clapping my hands.

That little mare hopped up quicker that I could even blink!  And I admit, I was so thankful I knelt down right there in the pasture and thanked God for hearing my prayer…for answering…for delivering me from my fears!

Delivers

After a moment of quiet, I was bombarded by slobbery dog kisses, so I got up and went towards the mare.  She walked up to me as calm as can be:D  I checked her over, and she was just fine!

Before all this happened I had been meditating on Psalm 34.  In this psalm there are so many verses that restate the same truth again and again.

“I sought the Lord and He answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.” Ps. 34:4

“This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles.” Ps. 34:6

“The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry.” Ps. 34:15

“The righteous cries out and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles.” Ps. 34:17

“The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from all of them.” Ps. 34:19

The truth is this…

Our God is a God who hears…who sees…who is attentive…who answers…who delivers…who saves…

Because He loves us…

He cares for us…

And while there are times He doesn’t keep us from trouble, but He is with us in trouble.

Sometimes those troubles leave us brokenhearted, but He is the One stays close and who saves us when we are crushed in spirit.

One day last fall, I had gone through one trouble after another…painful ones that hurt…

A lot.

My heart was broken…bleeding…

And yet God kept on allowing more troubles in…

It seemed like God was allowing my raw heart to be shredded…

Over and over.

It hurt so bad, I couldn’t take it any longer.

I fell to my knees and cried out to God my pain.

“God, I don’t understand.  Why do you make it so painful to follow you?  Instead of bringing relief to my soul, You are allowing pain upon pain to be multiplied.  It’s too much.  I can’t handle this any longer.”

I was crushed in spirit.

And you know what?

God didn’t end my troubles that day.

But He did save my spirit.

In that day, I learned that He truly is the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort…

Even in the darkest places.

I also discovered at an even deeper level that He is the One who holds me…

Even when I can’t hang on any longer.  I can just be held by He who knows what He’s doing.

Wherever you are at and whatever you are going through my prayer for you this day is that you will know in your heart of hearts that God Almighty is the One who hears your cries…who answers your prayers…

He is the One who is able…

To liberate from fears…

To deliver from troubles…

To save those who are crushed in spirit.

It’s true!  He hears.  He answers.

He saves!
