Whenever I read this verse, I am reminded of the circumstances that God’s people found themselves in as a result of choices they made…
Bad choices that resulted in their lives being uprooted and relocated to a land that they did not know.
Yet, even in their land of exile, God thoughts for them were of good and not evil. His plans for them were of hope and a future.
And this gives me hope…for even when I stumble and fall, when I mess up or make a really bad choice, God doesn’t give up on me. He is the One who is able to work all things – the good and the bad, the successes and the failures – together for good to those that love Him and are called according to His purpose.
I am not perfect. But You are. Because of Your faithfulness to Your promises, I can trust confidently that You will orchestrate every aspect of my life – the good and the oopses – for my good. Thank-you that Your thoughts of me are of good and not evil, and Your plans for me are for a hope and a future.
